Overview of role:
The Senior Analyst, Data Center Operations, is responsible for being a lead technical resource, supporting IT Data Center Operations services and systems infrastructure in WestJet’s highly integrated environment.
Being the lead analyst within an operational pod, the Senior Analyst will administer, implement key improvements, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents within WestJet’s Data Center and Private Cloud environments. Playing a key role in change, incident, and release management for the product stack, the analyst will maintain the stability and functionality of the systems supported.
The Senior Analyst will lead the technical aspects within the scrum methodology and will participate in estimations, planning, and delivery of sprints. They can be asked to provide input on developing requirements and propose solutions that meet business needs.
Key deliverables / responsibilities include:
- Design, implement and maintain a secure and scalable Infrastructure platform
- Technical lead for sprint work items identified as priority within timelines
- Leads in change, incident, problem management tasks within product team
- Understanding of overall architecture of technology supported and how to identify and troubleshoot challenges within, provides insights and expertise where required
- Ticket management, documentation of steps taken to fix or improve work items
- Knowledge management input, development of support runbooks and transition to operation process
- Responsible for ensuring that all knowledge management is up to date and published for technology supported
- Manage diverse operational services spread across geographically separated data centers and private clouds, including, but not limited to:
- VMWare virtualization technologies
- Windows and Linux operating system deployments
- Storage platforms
- Data protection and File Replication Services
- Infrastructure management and optimization
- Performance monitoring and baseline analysis
- Automate everything that can reasonably be automated, including CI/CD of Infrastructure systems and services
- Requirement to be on call
- Mentorship of Analyst group within the wider team
Experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent combination of industry training and experience
- 10+ years of working experience within an Enterprise environment, supporting diverse IT Infrastructure platforms.
- Deep technical knowledge with 7+ years of experience in Windows and Red Hat Linux Server operating systems in an enterprise environment.
- 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience with the architectural and/or deployment and/or operational support of VMware Cloud Foundations (VCF), e.g. vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Aria suite, etc.
- 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience with the architectural and/or deployment and/or operational support of Citrix platform components such as NetScaler, XenApp, XenDesktop, StoreFront servers, etc.
- Solid working experience with storage platforms, and excellent understanding of storage protocols including: iSCSI, Fibrechannel, FCoE and NFS/SMB.
- Extensive scripting and automation skills (VMware PowerCLI, Terraform, Bash, PowerShell Puppet, and/or Ansible).
- Solid understanding of Hyperscaler Cloud and Cloud Productivity tools.
- Experience with HPE Server Hardware and HPE GreenLake considered an asset.
- Requires expert problem-solving skills and advanced interpersonal and communication skills
