About the role

 

  • Provide project management expertise and monitor the performance of the private partner for the existing Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects
  • Attend schools on a regular basis, conducting site audits and condition assessments, cleaning audits and following up on any outstanding issues
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of project planning, development and implementation for a range of PPP and related projects
  • Undertake research and formulate recommendations for School Infrastructure NSW in relation to PPP forward planning, site specific issues, correspondence and briefings, maintenance cleaning contracts, capital works delivery, compliance issues management, demountable coordination and finance and legal issues.

 

School Infrastructure (SI) is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.

About you

 

You will be an experienced and competent project manager with strong negotiation and contract management skills along with the ability to understand multiple and diverse stakeholder needs. Specifically, you will:

 

  • Be able to act as a single point of contact for schools and stakeholders in PPP projects, resolving contractor performance queries and supporting asset management needs to deliver high-quality service outcomes.
  • Possess a demonstrated ability to monitor and evaluate contractor performance through regular school site visits, audits and inspections, and ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Demonstrate organisational skills to manage and deliver complex projects in line with established methodologies, including developing project plans, coordinating resources, managing budgets, and meeting reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Have the ability to provide sound contract management advice and lead negotiations with private consortia to ensure contract compliance, achieve cost savings, and deliver best-practice outcomes for the Department.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake research, analyse data and develop practical solutions to complex facilities management, compliance and planning issues, while maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

 

 

Essential requirements of the role

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent workplace experience in facilities management, project management, contract management and/or the operations phase of the PPPs
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Willingness and ability to travel to all schools on a regular basis
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
