As a Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate for Catholic Charities of Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties, you will play a vital role in the lives of survivors and their families, providing safety, support, and empowerment through:
- Receive calls during office hours for shelter screenings and client questions.
- Complete intake and discharge process for all clients.
- Assess needed supports and services.
- Identify available resources.
- Provide referrals and linkages to other community agencies as appropriate.
- Support clients in implementing their plans.
- Develop safety plans for clients.
- Work with other advocates to provide empowerment for clients applying for other services to live violence and abuse free.
- Provide Crisis Intervention support which includes emotional support and safety planning to domestic violence survivors, assess urgent needs, and connect them with emergency services.
- Occasional heavy lifting required for moving of groceries, furniture, etc.
Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate Minimum Pay: $20.00
Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate Maximum Pay: $20.00
Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 4PM
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Human Services or related field
- 1-3 years of experience in mental health, substance use, or human services
