POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Testing and Assessment provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the district-wide testing program. This role ensures effective implementation of federal, state, and local testing requirements and oversees the secure management, administration, and reporting of all standardized and locally developed assessments. The Assistant Director supervises the testing warehouse, testing operations, data management, and compliance functions, ensuring alignment with district goals and accountability standards.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Assessment, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field required.
CERTIFICATION: - Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification at level L-5 or higher in Educational Leadership.
- WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience required
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership experience in instructional, testing, or district-level administration
- Experience as a school or district testing coordinator preferred
- Experience in K–12 education or public sector preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Leads and manages the district-wide assessment program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local policies and procedures. Ensures corrective actions when needed.
- Provides leadership and guidance in the development, implementation, and evaluation of assessment programs aligned with district goals.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff to ensure efficient operations and professional growth.
- Oversees test administration logistics, including the secure storage, distribution, and return of all testing materials.
- Analyzes and interprets student achievement data to support district reporting, school improvement, and instructional decision-making.
- Serves as the district subject matter expert on assessment-related issues, policies, and best practices.
- Coordinates the communication of assessment schedules, requirements, results, regulatory changes, and other updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manages vendor relationships and oversees the integrity and functionality of assessment management systems.
- Leads cross-departmental teams to evaluate and improve existing assessment processes and tools.
- Develops and delivers professional learning programs related to assessment administration, data interpretation, and accountability.
- Facilitates the accuracy of student test history within student information and instructional management systems.
- Collaborates with district departments and school leaders to align assessments with instructional priorities and accountability goals.
- Prepares and presents reports and data summaries for district leadership and other stakeholders.
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site during regular business hours and as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or their representative.
