- Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
- One year of office clerical experience or classes equivalent to training.
- Knowledge of current office equipment and procedures, including computers and applicable data management programs; proper public contact and telephone techniques; correct English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Ability to perform keyboarding; operate a 10-key calculator; perform record keeping and record checking duties rapidly and accurately; maintain records available for audit; meet and maintain attendance deadlines; work calmly and accurately under pressure and with frequent interruptions; understand and carry out or and written instructions; establish and maintain effective relationships.
- Additional education with an emphasis on bookkeeping or record keeping skills.
- Knowledge of statistical and other record keeping procedures.
- Compile student enrollment and attendance (ADA) information, prepare and submit reports for local, State, and other ADA purposes; type from verbal instructions and rough draft documents; compose and prepare correspondence concerning student attendance and records accurately and as appropriate.
- Provide information and explain State and District rules, regulations and policies related to attendance.
- Review, verify, excuse or turn student absences into truancies according to established guidelines; may provide readmit slips for students absent for one period or more.
- Initiate and receive a heavy volume of communication with parents, students, administration, staff, social service agencies, and authorities regarding attendance issues.
- Prepare, audit, and generate ADA, SART, and SARB reports and submit to administration and District personnel as required.
- Report students for SART and SARB, which includes students with chronic attendance problems who are habitually absent and it is affecting their performance in school.
- Track daily attendance and ADA recovery attendance of all students, call parents, and send attendance reminders to homes of students who are habitually truant to follow-up regarding absences and clear absences appropriately.
- Enter Independent Study and Home Teaching attendance into student attendance records.
- Check to ensure all teachers enter student attendance accurately and in a timely manner, and make manual adjustments as needed.
- Answer phone calls pertaining to student absences, deliveries to students, messages to students, and all other school-related business.
- Perform a variety of duties related to creation or maintaining lists, forms, records, notices, correspondence, scanning, and daily reporting.
- Complete the necessary documentation to withdraw students from school, and notify the appropriate personnel.
- Train and supervise student helpers in the Attendance Office.
- May receive visitors, referring them to the appropriate staff member, department, or administrator.
- May provide services such as delivery of messages or items from parents, for students.
- Operate a variety of office machines and computer programs such as but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Google Applications, and Aeries.
- Participate in ongoing training as technology and processes are updated.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required.

Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day, 7:45 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.
SALARY: Range 17 - salary placement from $19.23 to $24.54 hourly rate
Salary prorated based on start date and prior experience.

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, to establish, verify, maintain and report on student attendance records at a comprehensive high school. The Attendance Technician will perform advanced and highly complex duties to prepare and maintain records related to student attendance accounting, prepare and submit reports for local, county, state, and other ADA purposes; and train personnel as needed. Duties may vary from site to site. The Attendance Technician will utilize all resources available to establish a cooperative relationship with parents, staff members, and administrators to support each student's opportunity to learn and grow in educational and life experiences.
QUALIFICATIONS

SUPERVISION:
The Attendance Technician, High School, is under the general supervision of the school principal or designated administrator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
PHYSICAL: Employee in this position must have the ability to:
1. Stand and sit for extended periods of time.
2. See and read printed matter with or without vision aids.
3. Hear and understand speech at normal levels.
4. Speak English so that others may understand at normal levels.
5. Stand, walk, stoop, twist, bend over, grasp, reach overhead, push, pull, and move, lift and/or carry 0 to 25 pounds to waist height.
6. Is able to move throughout the building and school grounds as necessary.
MENTAL: Employee in this position must have the ability to:
1. Able to concentrate on a single task for up to two (2) hours at a time.
