Overview:

The Holly Springs Salamanders, part of the Coastal Plain League, are seeking an enthusiastic and animated individual to bring our mascot to life during games, events, and community appearances. As the Mascot Performer, you will play a vital role in creating memorable experiences for fans, entertaining crowds, and representing the Salamanders brand in a fun and engaging way.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

• Game-Day Performance:

  • Perform as the mascot during all Holly Springs Salamanders home games, engaging fans with high-energy entertainment.
  • Interact with fans of all ages, including photo opportunities, high-fives, and spontaneous dance routines.
  • Participate in on-field promotions, skits, and other in-game activities to enhance the fan experience.

• Community Engagement:

  • Represent the Holly Springs Salamanders at community events, parades, and appearances outside of game days.
  • Create positive and memorable experiences while maintaining the mascot's persona.

• Character Maintenance:

  • Ensure the mascot costume is kept in excellent condition, clean, and properly stored.
  • Communicate with management regarding any repairs or replacements needed for the costume.

• Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the promotions and entertainment team to coordinate appearances and activities.
  • Take direction from staff to adapt performances for specific events or audiences.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 

• Performance Skills:

  • Prior experience in performing arts, theater, or mascot performance is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to convey emotions and entertain without verbal communication.

• Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically fit to perform in the mascot costume, which can be warm and heavy.
  • Ability to endure extended periods of activity, including dancing, running, and interacting with fans.

• Personal Attributes:

  • Outgoing, energetic, and creative personality with a passion for entertaining.
  • Comfortable interacting with large crowds and individuals of all ages.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain the mascot's positive reputation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous mascot experience or training is a plus.
• Familiarity with the Holly Springs Salamanders and their fanbase is an advantage.
• Experience working in a sports or entertainment setting is preferred.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

• Mobility:
  • Ability to move freely, including walking, running, jumping, and dancing.
• Endurance:
  • Maintain high energy levels for extended periods, including wearing the mascot costume for 2-3 hours at a time.
• Lifting and Carrying:
  • Occasionally lift or carry promotional materials or props (up to 20 pounds).

• Schedule:
  • Must be available for all Holly Springs Salamanders home games, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Flexible availability for community events and special appearances.
• Environment:
  • Perform in outdoor stadium settings and various venues with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Work in a high-energy, noisy environment while wearing a full-body mascot costume.
