Job Summary:

The Facilities Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the facilities, equipment, and infrastructure at Syntec Optics. This role ensures company compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards, supports production operations by troubleshooting equipment issues (including injection molding machines, robots, conveyor equipment, CNC mills, lathes, turning equipment, high vacuum coating systems, and equipment cooling systems), manages preventive maintenance programs, and coordinates facility projects that ensure operational efficiency and safety.  The team lead will oversee a small team of maintenance technicians in support of a 24 hour x 7 day manufacturing operation.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)

    Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations.

    Lead the company Safety Committee efforts to conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard analyses in support of a safe workplace.

    Provide training and guidance to employees on safety procedures, emergency response, and regulatory compliance.

    Work with HR team to maintain proper documentation of incidents, inspections, and corrective actions.

    Serve as primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and internal safety committees.


Maintenance (Injection Molding, CNC, Coating)

    Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all company production assets and facility equipment.

    Coordinate troubleshooting and repair activities to minimize downtime.

    Maintain spare parts inventory and coordinate vendor service as needed.

    Develop equipment reliability strategies to improve machine uptime and efficiency.

    Support engineering teams with selection of equipment, equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications.


Facilities Management

    Manage day-to-day facility operations including utilities, HVAC, compressed air systems, building infrastructure, and grounds.

    Oversee contractors and vendors for building services, renovations, and maintenance projects.

    Develop and manage facilities budgets, including capital projects and operating expenses.

    Ensure compliance with environmental permits, waste management programs, and sustainability initiatives.

    Implement facility security, access control, and emergency preparedness systems.

Education, Skills and Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (preferred).

    5+ years of experience in facilities management, industrial maintenance, or related leadership role in a manufacturing operation.

    Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and compliance standards.

    Hands-on experience with CNC and/or injection molding equipment maintenance.

    Proven ability to manage multiple projects and lead cross-functional teams.

    Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

    Strong leadership and decision-making ability.

    Technical expertise in manufacturing equipment and facilities systems.

    Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

    Ability to manage budgets and drive cost efficiencies.

    Effective vendor and contractor management skills.
