BakerHostetler is seeking a dynamic and experienced Attorney Recruiting Manager to be in our Columbus office.  The manager will support our attorney hiring initiatives in the Columbus and Cincinnati offices and report directly to the Director of Recruiting.  Working closely with office leadership in our Columbus and Cincinnati offices, the recruiting manager will be responsible for recruiting senior-level lateral attorneys, associates, and   summer associates.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborative hiring efforts: Work closely with the Firmwide Recruiting Department, office hiring partners, managing partners, and practice group leaders to achieve attorney hiring goals. Design and execute strategies for lateral recruiting at all levels (staff attorney, associate, counsel and partners).
  • Interview process management: Manage interview process, including scheduling interviews, soliciting feedback, offer preparation and decision process. Keep internal and external stakeholders appraised of candidate status.
  • Summer Associate Program management: Working closely with the office hiring partners, implementing and overseeing all aspects of the summer associate program, including onboarding, work assignment monitoring, mentor assignments, social event planning, and managing summer associate reviews.
  • Law school relations: Build and maintain relationships with key law school contacts Register for law school interview programs, resume collections, and employer events.
  • Candidate sourcing and screening: identify and engage with lateral attorney candidates through direct sourcing, self-apply candidate screening, and search firm candidate submission review.
  • Search firm relationship management: Proactively communicate and maintain strong relationships with key search firm partners.
  • Committee coordination: Organize hiring committee meetings and prepare necessary materials.
  • Event planning: Coordinate and plan law school recruiting and outreach events, including logistics such as vendor contracts, budgets, and menus
  • Database management: Maintain and update the applicant database, create candidate files, send status updates, complete audits, and manage candidate correspondence.
  • Financial organization: Manage and oversee recruiting department budget for Columbus office.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Mentor program assistance: Support the Cincinnati and Columbus program co-leaders with various initiatives.
  • Marketing: Coordinate updates needed for marketing materials, research practice related topics, sourcing  popular items, and assist with the selection of BakerHostetler branded “swag” items.
  • Team collaboration: Participate in Recruiting Department meetings and work with Firmwide Recruiting team on additional projects and Midwest-focused recruiting initiatives as needed
  • Administrative supervision: Provide general supervision to administrative support professionals, including expense reconciliation, calendar organization, and meeting arrangements.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of law firm recruiting experience
  • Search firm experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn Recruiter and other attorney search tools
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; knowledge of ViGlobal suite is a plus
  • Advanced interviewing technique expertise.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of integrity and discretion handling confidential information
  • Exceptional organization skills and keen attention to detail
  • An appropriate sense of urgency to resolve issues as they arise and a proactive approach related to completing tasks and meeting deadlines.  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
