Job Summary:
The Design Specialist I is a senior-level role responsible for creating, managing, and coordinating complex digital design models and documentation for architectural and engineering projects. This role involves working independently on advanced design tasks, leading multi-disciplinary coordination, and ensuring that project documentation meets high standards of quality and compliance. The CAD/BIM Designer III also supports junior designers, offering technical guidance and expertise in CAD/BIM processes to enhance project outcomes.
Primary Essential Functions:
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD/BIM models for complex projects, producing construction documents, layouts, sections, and elevations in alignment with project specifications and standards.
- Lead design coordination with multi-disciplinary teams, including architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines, to integrate various models into a cohesive project model.
- Review and ensure quality control of all CAD/BIM deliverables, conducting checks for accuracy, compliance with project standards, and consistency across design documentation.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to understand project requirements, resolve design issues, and implement necessary adjustments in the models.
- Mentor and provide technical support to junior CAD/BIM designers, guiding them on best practices, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring adherence to CAD/BIM standards.
- Maintain and manage project files, ensuring all drawings, models, and associated documentation are organized, up-to-date, and accessible to project stakeholders.
- Develop and implement CAD/BIM standards and protocols, establishing workflows that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across projects.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving complex software issues, conducting advanced modeling tasks, and identifying process improvements for CAD/BIM workflows.
- Prepare presentations, visualizations, and 3D renderings as needed for client presentations, ensuring that visual materials effectively communicate the design intent.

Qualifications:
Required
- Associate’s degree or certification in CAD, BIM, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in CAD/BIM design, with experience in multi-disciplinary project environments.
Preferred
- Advanced certification in AutoCAD, Revit, or other BIM software.
- Experience in a senior or lead designer role, with responsibilities in mentoring or leading design teams.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings.
- Frequent use of standard office equipment, including computers, keyboards, telephones, and printers.
- Occasional light physical activity such as walking, standing, or carrying materials (30 lbs.).
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and through written communication.
