MANAGER OF CONTENT AND CREATIVE STRATEGY

Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., M–F, some evenings/weekends required

Position Summary

The Manager of Content & Creative Strategy leads Evangel University’s brand storytelling and creative execution across all channels. Working closely with the Vice President for Enrollment & Marketing, this role ensures consistency in messaging, design, storytelling, and content strategy. The manager defines WHAT we say about the University and its programs and HOW it is communicated visually and verbally, translating strategy into compelling campaigns. This role owns front-end SEO (headlines, copy, keyword integration) and works jointly with the Manager of Strategy & Analytics on Brightedge, ensuring Evangel’s digital presence drives engagement and enrollment. The manager also serves as the primary contact with Hampton Creative for design retainers and special campaign projects.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Collaboration with VP
 - Partner with the VP to shape brand and messaging strategies,  ensuring alignment with the President’s vision and institutional priorities.
 - Provide updates and recommendations on creative priorities.
 - Work with other Directors and Managers as assigned by the VP.
 
Creative Direction & Brand Stewardship
 - Lead brand storytelling for print, digital, video, and web.
 - Ensure consistent, compelling content aligned with Evangel’s brand standards.
 - Manage adoption and enforcement of brand guidelines across departments.
 
Team Leadership
 - Supervise Graphic Designer, Marketing Operations Coordinator, and student social media staff.
 - Provide art direction for photography and video in collaboration with Strategy & Analytics Manager.
 - Mentor staff to grow in design, copywriting, and brand management.
 
 Social Media & Digital Content
 - Own Evangel’s social media execution, including strategy, content calendar, influencer team, and voice.
 - Supervise student social media staff to ensure daily execution and engagement.
 
Web Content Strategy & SEO
 - Lead web content strategy and new builds, including wireframes, navigation flow, copywriting, and hero image selection.
 - Own front-end SEO, ensuring keyword integration, optimized headlines, and compelling copy.
 - Partner with the Strategy & Analytics Manager on Brightedge reports, ensuring recommendations are implemented in new content, landing pages, and program rollouts.
 - Participate jointly with Strategy & Analytics in Brightedge calls and check-ins to align data insights with content execution.
 
Program Messaging & Rollout
 - Translate strategic insights into messaging and creative assets.
 - Direct Marketing Ops Coordinator in intake, scheduling, and execution of new program rollouts.
 - Ensure storytelling and web content for new programs are optimized for SEO and aligned with audience needs.
 
Vendor & Agency Collaboration
 - Serve as primary Hampton contact for design retainer projects (viewbook, recruitment pieces, alumni, athletics, presidential requests).
 - Lead collaboration with Hampton on special campaign projects (e.g., new undergraduate recruitment campaigns), working with the VP to align creative direction with enrollment strategy.
 - Collaborate with the Manager of Strategy & Analytics on Hampton web development/maintenance projects, providing creative direction while Analytics manages vendor logistics.
 - Coordinate university “swag” requests, including vendor options, pricing, and order placement, in collaboration with the Marketing Operations Coordinator.

 Collaboration & Stakeholders
 
- Balance enrollment and advancement as top priorities, while serving university-wide marketing needs as capacity allows.
 - Partner with Athletics as needed on marketing and creative projects, ensuring consistency with Evangel’s brand standards. Level of support to be defined in collaboration with Athletics leadership.
 - Collaborate with the President’s Office (PR), academic deans/chairs, and other campus partners to align messaging and creative work with institutional priorities.

Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, design, or related field.
 - 5+ years of experience in creative management, content, or brand leadership.
 - Strong creative vision and ability to enforce brand standards.
 - Excellent writing, editing, and design sensibility.
 - Experience with SEO content strategy and digital storytelling.
 - Experience collaborating with agencies or vendors on creative projects.
 - Commitment to Evangel’s mission and values.
