About the Department
Olympic College is seeking to hire a full-time Food Service Worker Lead. This position is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of various campus food production areas, including the Café, Catering, Bookstore, Food Pantry, and Satellite Locations. This role ensures smooth service, food quality, and customer satisfaction across all food production and service areas. The Food Services Lead ensures compliance with food safety standards and supports meal preparation and service while maintaining a clean and organized environment. The position reports directly to the Food Services Manager and Food Services Supervisor and indirectly collaborates with culinary faculty and students to foster a cooperative atmosphere that encourages shared responsibility for the upkeep of the kitchen and dining areas.
Position Duties
Food Preparation and Service:
- Assist with meal preparation, portioning, and presentation across all food service areas.
- Ensure proper food labeling, temperature control, and inventory management across the dining facilities.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in food service areas, including dining areas, kitchens, and storage spaces.
- Ensure all meals meet quality standards and adhere to dietary guidelines.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage, handling, and temperature control of food items.
- Ensure that all areas comply with health department regulations and internal policies regarding cleanliness and hygiene.
- Maintain knowledge of food allergies and dietary restrictions, ensuring proper handling to prevent cross-contamination.
- Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the Café, Catering, Bookstore, Food Pantry and Satellite spaces, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Provide guidance to new employees in proper food handling, safety, customer service, and facility procedures.
- Address any concerns or issues in a timely manner.
- Assist in overseeing daily operations and food production in the Café and Satellite spaces, ensuring quality service and food production standards are met.
- Support Catering operations by preparing, serving, and delivering food for events on and off-campus.
- Oversee food production for the Bookstore and Food Pantry, ensuring food is stored, prepared, labeled and served according to safety and quality standards.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure the timely delivery and setup of food services for special events and campus functions.
- Indirectly collaborate with culinary faculty and students to provide practical learning experiences within the dining facility.
- Work together with culinary faculty and students in a shared kitchen and dining space, ensuring that all parties maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper sanitation practices in the facility.
- Foster a cooperative atmosphere that encourages shared responsibility for the upkeep of the kitchen, dining areas, and storage spaces to ensure a safe, efficient, and pleasant environment for all.
- Contribute to a service-oriented approach focused on assisting underserved communities on campus, particularly students experiencing food insecurity.
- Help create a welcoming and supportive environment for those accessing food services, with an emphasis on reducing stigma and promoting inclusion.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing student, staff, and faculty needs promptly and professionally.
- Handle any complaints or issues regarding food quality, service, or cleanliness, ensuring resolution in a timely and professional manner.
- Approach students who may be struggling to afford food with compassion and understanding, offering information on available resources such as food voucher days, the Food Pantry, and other campus support services. Ensure that all students feel comfortable accessing these resources without stigma.
- Assist in inventory control across all food production areas, including the Café, Catering, Bookstore and Food Pantry.
- Track supplies, place orders, and maintain stock levels.
- Communicate with the Food Services Manager and Food Services Supervisor about the need for restocking and supply replenishment.
- Assist the Food Services Manager and Food Services Supervisor in preparing reports related to food inventory, staff performance, and customer feedback.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and experience with inventory management.
- Customer-focused with a positive attitude and the ability to resolve issues efficiently.
- Compassionate approach to addressing food insecurity and serving diverse populations.

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
This is a full-time classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week, with a salary range of $40,032 - $53,136 annually. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A, when you have completed six months of probation, you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union. Classified positions qualify for the following benefits:

Conditions of Employment
Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.
