Cooper Farms is currently seeking a Safety Supervisor to join our team in Van Wert.

 

The primary goal of this position is to promote safety related activities in a professional and highly organized manner and to ensure and enforce all policies and procedures to meet or exceed OSHA guidelines and regulations. This position also has the responsibility for product safety, legality, and quality systems.

 

SHIFT HOURS: Monday through Friday (salary role)
STARTING RATE: Commensurate with experience
ADDITIONAL PAY: Monthly and year-end profit sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)

 

Job Functions:

  • Oversee the development and implication of safe work practices.
  • Support the Safety Manager by enforcing safety programs that promote a healthy, safe work environment.
  • Have working knowledge of all aspects of the safety department to include all the responsibilities of the Safety Assistant, Safety Specialists I & II and ability to directly supervise these positions.
  • Establish and enforce the new equipment process to assure any new equipment or machine has been inspected and approved before operation.
  • Closely monitor and inspect all machines for safety functionality and operations.
  • Conduct safety trainings.
  • Serve as a resource in all incident or accident investigations to discover root causes, identify corrective actions, and monitor for compliance.
  • Identify and correct ergonomic risk factors while working collaboratively with production, sanitation, maintenance, and engineering.
  • Actively engage in new team members onboarding, specific to the first 90 days of employment.
  • Conduct safety related audits on a regular basis
  • Regularly review written programs for accuracy and compliance.
