About the Role: 

The Supervisor of Accounting will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead a team responsible for accurate, timely financial reporting. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong technical acumen and the desire to grow. You’ll play a key role in building operational excellence, strengthening internal controls, and mentoring a high-performing team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Operational Oversight

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Review and approve reconciliations, journal entries, and schedules for assigned accounts.
  • Maintain consistent application of accounting policies and internal control standards.
  • Partner with the Accounting Manager and Controller to implement process improvements and strengthen control documentation.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Serve as final review authority for complex or judgmental areas (e.g., accruals, reserves, intercompany transactions).
  • Ensure SOX-compliant controls are designed, operating effectively, and supported with proper documentation.
  • Support audit requests and coordinate responses with external and internal auditors.
  • Identify risks, escalate issues, and proactively recommend corrective actions.

Cross-Functional & Strategic Support

  • Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, and Operations to ensure data integrity and transparency in reporting.
  • Support system enhancements and process automation efforts.
  • Contribute to departmental KPIs and reporting dashboards that measure team performance and close-cycle efficiency.
  • Act as a thought partner to the Accounting Manager, helping to shape accounting strategy and scale operations for growth.

Management Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily team operations including account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close deliverables.
  • Review team work for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to GAAP and internal controls.
  • Establish clear expectations, monitor performance metrics, and drive accountability for deadlines and quality.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and career development to team members; identify skill gaps and create development plans.

 

 

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • CPA or CPA eligibility strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop team members effectively.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a proactive, ownership mindset.
