Role Summary
As the Business Unit (BU) Controller, you will be the key financial partner for the Air Filtration Business Unit in the Americas. This role demands not only strong technical finance and controlling skills but also proven experience in applying Global Best Practices of Finance and Controlling standards, methodologies, and systems. The BU Controller will ensure robust financial performance management, accurate reporting, and value creation through strategic decision support. You will drive transparency, accountability, and profitability across the BU, ensuring alignment with global Mann + Hummel processes, while supporting the BU leadership in strategic and operational decision-making.
This role is ideal for a finance professional with strong controlling expertise, sales & pricing analysis background, and a collaborative mindset. The BU Controller will play a critical role in supporting business decisions, ensuring financial integrity, and driving continuous improvement in sales controlling and overall BU performance.
Main Tasks
Sales & Pricing Controlling
- Lead the annual sales budget, strategic plan, and rolling forecasts for all sales channels.
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of sales reporting across Retail, Commercial, and Industrial (C&I) segments.
- Develop and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and scorecards to ensure clear visibility of BU performance.
- Manage data consolidation at BU level, review consistency with Plant Controllers.
- Liaise with plants and sales colleagues to ensure pricing evolution is accurately forecasted and properly implemented.
- Perform variance analysis vs. budget/forecast/actuals and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain and improve internal controls around pricing adjustments via PriceFx.
- Collaborate with Plant Controlling and Sales teams to resolve pricing discrepancies and overdue receivables.
- Contribute to the quotation process and align with sales team and BU head to get the best profitable volume growth and lead the pricing approval workflow via PriceFx.
Controlling & Reporting
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes for the BU, ensuring transparency and compliance.
- Drive variance analysis on sales, EBIT, working capital, and free cash flow.
- Support strategic business initiatives, M&A, pricing decisions, and investment analysis with robust financial models.
- Partner with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure financial alignment and accuracy.
Cross-Functional Business Partnering
- Provide forward-looking business insights and recommendations to BU leadership.
- Educate and coach BU and plant teams on financial concepts and controlling processes.
- Facilitate effective communication between Sales, Operations, Accounting, and Finance.
- Champion process improvement, workflow optimization, and systems utilization (SAP, PriceFx, SAC/BPC, Power BI).
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal control standards related to Sales and BU controlling.
- Uphold the highest ethical standards and Mann + Hummel’s Code of Conduct.
Your Profile
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or related field (MBA, CMA preferred).
Experience:
- 5–10 years of professional experience in Finance, with minimum 5 years in BU Controlling.
- Experience in manufacturing or multinational industrial environment.
- International and multicultural experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and financial modeling.
- Strong knowledge of finance modules in SAP (S4HC preferred) and/or SAGE X3; Key User experience desirable.
- Experience with BPC, SAC, PowerBI, and PriceFx is a strong advantage.
- Results-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability; able to evaluate alternatives and drive decisions.
- Skilled in presenting complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
