Summary of Position:

The Associate Director of Business Development role is an entry level sales position that focuses on the food service needs of school districts. The candidate will have exposure to all departments within SFE, enabling them to increase their knowledge of what SFE does, and how we differentiate from our competitors.  This position is intended to be a 12-to-24-month role, with the candite then transitioning to a Director of Business Development role.

 

He/she will call on C-Level business executives in the k-12 community (Business Managers, Superintendents, and School Board Members)  The successful candidate will participate in driving productivity and profitability to achieve set sales targets and drive sustainable, profitable growth aligned to the strategic business plan.  He/she will have a state responsibility in XXXX/XXXX.

 

Qualifications:

  • B2B or consumer sales experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of the National School Lunch Program a plus
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Writing, listening, communication and presentation skills
  • Analytical ability to develop financial models
  • Relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of sales process/methodology: identify buying criteria, eliminate objections, and develop solutions
  • Computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience utilizing a CRM system such as Salesforce preferred
  • InDesign Software experience preferred
  • Extensive travel required (75%)
  • College degree or equivalent experience required

 

Responsibilities:

  • Development responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
    • Assist with new business start-up and program implementation
    • Take on various roles at existing partner district (urban, suburban, rural)
    • Shadow DBD’s on sales calls and trade shows
    • Shadow DAO and sit in on client and team meetings
    • Observe and play small role in client presentations
    • Sit in and participate on Deal Memo Calls
    • Participate in a State Agency District Audit with CNops
    • Work with Marketing on a café refresh and or other participation growth projects
  • Participate in the entire sales process, including but not limited to:
    • Prospect identifying
    • Prospect qualifying
    • Prospect contacting

        • Territory marketing and development
        • Proposal development and delivery
        • Closing and contract negotiations
      • Attend and lead tradeshow/presentation efforts
      • Lead voice in generating, cultivating, and fostering relationships with key school business officials
      • Manage and track sales activities through CRM software (Salesforce)  
      • Schedule and organize presentations, pre-bird conferences, and conference calls
      • Report, track, and maintain all tradeshow leads and contact information
      • Other duties, as assigned

      Ability to speak, read, write and understand English and/or dominate language at the school

      Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)

      Be physically able to lift, reach, bend and stoop frequently lift up to 25 pounds
