Connor Co., a company rich in history, currently has an available Delivery Driver/Warehouse/Counter position in Jacksonville, IL. We seek a career-minded person looking for a long-term position with a great company.
Candidates must:
- Pass a pre-employment background check and drug testing.
- Be available to work from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Principal Accountabilities:
Prepares truck for operation by inspecting general condition: check fluid levels and tire pressure; notify the Branch Manager before obtaining or scheduling required repairs.
Maintains truck operating efficiency by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and scheduling repairs
Loads delivery truck with product securely, avoiding damage
Delivering items by identifying destinations, establishing a route, operating the truck, unloading items, and maintaining a schedule
Use a cell phone to report on the progress of deliveries
Picks up returns items for the company
Verifies products delivered against the packing slip and has the customer sign the receipt.
Serves customers by understanding and resolving or forwarding complaints
Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
Efficient and effective loading and unloading of trucks.
Inspects materials according to instructions and reports damaged goods.
Process inbound materials to the warehouse. Compare quantities shown on the packing slip or manifests with the actual items received.
Sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to sequence, such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
Ensures materials are placed in the designated area within the warehouse.
Stack skids or pallets in the designated area. Cleans up and disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping, and places in a proper container or designated area.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping racks, shelves, pallet area, workstations, and counter area neat; maintaining a clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
General housekeeping: sweeping, mopping, dusting, and emptying trash.
Enter customer orders face-to-face, over the phone, or electronically.
Pulls customer orders and prepares them for pick-up or delivery.
Calls vendors for product pricing and availability.
Places purchase orders with vendors for special order materials.
Follow up with customers and vendors on open orders.
Communicate customer and order issues with salesmen and management.
Communicate with delivery drivers about orders that need to be delivered.
Assists customers in determining product needs.
Research products and repair parts for customers.
Participates in company and vendor product training in person and electronically.
Processes customer returns and communicates with vendors to obtain return approvals.
Restock, rotate, and face the counter inventory shelving.
Perform other duties as requested.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
High School Diploma or its equivalent
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (Illinois Class D license)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:
Critical thinker, using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions
Mathematical reasoning- ability to choose the right method or formulas to solve a problem
Ability to learn Eclipse software
Must be very detail-oriented and focused on accuracy
Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines
Must have strong interpersonal communication skills
Must maintain a patient and professional attitude while managing a busy workload
Strong organizational skills are required
Must be able to determine and prioritize workload
Working Conditions:
Normal warehouse environment
Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
Physical strength to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
