About the Department

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time, 12-month position

PRIMARY DUTY: The Student Involvement Coordinator directs all aspects of the Student Activities Council. The Coordinator will organize Family Weekend and Homecoming activities and events as they relate to and support the University’s strategic plan. The Coordinator will support department wide initiatives and programs related to leadership development.

Position Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Oversee all aspects of the Student Activities Council including basic administrative duties, extensive budget management, program planning and evaluation and marketing/promotions

2. With the support of a Graduate Assistant, advise the Student Activities Council Leadership Team and programming chairs

3. With the support of a Graduate Assistant, advise the Homecoming Executive Board and programming committee

4. Assists and supports the Assistant Director with the University Information system

5. Coordinate university-wide Family Weekend and Homecoming activities and events

6. Manage department’s event ticketing system as part of the University’s event ticketing system

7. Contract review for the Office of Student Involvement

8. Manage and maintain budgets for SAC, Homecoming and Family Weekend activities and events

9. Coordinate and plan annual Student Organization Fair

10. Coordinate with other departments, the annual Northwest Leadership Awards Ceremony.

11. Collaborate with other Student Affairs areas and University departments as needed and develop and sustain effective professional relationships with students, faculty, staff and others

12. Direct continuous quality improvement efforts for all programs/units under his/her supervision through goal-setting and data collection (includes strategic planning, as well as evaluation/assessment for department, division, and University goals)

13. Serve on University committees, teams and task forces as needed

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field

Experience: One to two years of experience, including experience in student activities, student development, major event planning, and/or special events; event planning experience related to major events and performances; experience in managing resources and planning/evaluation programs and services

Skills: Excellent interpersonal relationship skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; strong organizational skills; ability to interact with students from diverse backgrounds; ability to connect with students appropriately to encourage student success.

Other Qualifications

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position works in an air-conditioned office in a newly renovated facility. Hours will vary from week to week with nights and weekends expected. A flexible work schedule is expected to balance work/life balance. This position will work in a variety of University settings, including activities outdoors. This position is identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). The CSA will attend required CSA training and is an official of the University who has significant responsibility for students and campus activities and the authority to take action for the University.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position requires minimal supervision and supervises graduate assistants and assists in the supervision of student employees

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: IBM compatible PC, office equipment, and audio visual equipment

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds
