Claims Manager
Department: Claims Location: Ormond Beach, FL**Hybrid position working at least 3 days a week onsite at Ormond Beach location**
Summary of Position:
Responsible for directly supervising and managing a team of claims examiners assigned to receive, track, manage, and resolve homeowner and property claims for Security First Managers (Company). Work involves providing daily oversight of attendance and productivity for assigned staff. Serves as the primary resource for the team in resolving issues associated with claims handling. Ensures adherence to workflows and procedures and provides guidance for coverage, loss assessments, and adjustment expenses.
Position is primarily focused on managing other people. Position requires expertise and knowledge in specialized functions or business areas that can be used to develop efficient and innovative ways to accomplish the organization's business strategies.
Essential Job Functions:
� Manages a team of claims examiners to ensure proper claims handling and compliance with claim guidelines
� Conducts initial reviews of property claims and assigns them to staff
� Evaluates all claims and provides guidance and settlement authority to staff as needed
� Effectively manages loss, loss adjustment expenses, and loss reserves for assigned claims
� Responsible for the analysis of policy terms, conditions and exclusions to guide and assist Examiners in the proper resolution of coverage issues
� Analyzes reports to identify trends and proposes appropriate strategies
� Refers claims to the complex unit and/or litigation as necessary
� Builds relationships with external business partners and exercises independent judgement in transactions
� Conducts training for internal staff members as required
� Participates in training and mentoring of external business partners
� Conducts claim file reviews for the department
� Performs Claims Examiner duties as required
� Attends mediations, settlements and legal proceedings as required
� Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities; ensures risks are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and managed
� Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities
� Analyzes complex situations, identifies key issues, and formulates effective solutions
� Assesses, plans, and implements best practice standards and assures compliance with all regulatory agencies; compiles and submits data for trend analysis and regulatory reporting
� Responds to emergency call-ins for weather incidents, natural disasters, or other critical events
� The job duties might change in the event of a natural catastrophe that impacts our customers and you might be required to work additional hours
Supervisory Responsibilities:
� Reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures and meets with management staff to identify and resolve problems
� Assesses and monitors workload; identifies opportunities for improvement and implements changes
� Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; provides feedback that facilitates improvement; implements discipline procedures per established policies, procedures, and executive guidance
� Oversees and participates in the development and administration of the departmental budget; approves the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; approves expenditures and implements budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary
Minimum Requirements:
� High school diploma or equivalent
� Minimum of six (6) years of property and casualty claims experience, including three (3) to five (5) years of direct claims handling
� One (1) to three (3) years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
� OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience
Certifications and Licenses:
� May be required to possess a valid state of Florida driver's license
� Current Florida 6-20 All-Lines Adjuster License in good standing or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
� Insurance industry designations or trade certifications as required
Preferred Qualifications:
� Bachelor's degree in a related field
