As the Associate Vice President & Chief of Staff, you will serve as the trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Vice President for Student Affairs. You will provide leadership and oversight for key areas including Marketing & Communications, Development, Finance, Human Resources, Technology Services, and Facilities Management, ensuring alignment with the mission and goals of the Division and the University. Your ability to build partnerships, guide strategic initiatives, and proactively address challenges will help shape the success of the Division and strengthen its impact across campus and the broader community. Responsibilities
Chief of Staff: Oversees the financial and personnel operations of the Division of Student Affairs. Works collaboratively to resolve and address issues before they are brought to the Vice President of Student Affairs (VPSA). Works to ensure departmental strategic initiatives, goals, and objectives are aligned with and contribute to division and university mission, vision, and goals. Serves as a liaison with internal staff and/or external partners to guide successful outcomes on projects and initiatives, monitors and evaluates impact and results, and reports on the progress to the VPSA. Represents the Division of Student Affairs at the university level and participates in division strategies in the areas of finance, personnel, and facilities coordination. Responsible for interpreting TAMU regulations, TAMU rules and standard administrative procedures for the division.
Leadership and Supervision: Leads and supervises various departments within the Division of Student Affairs to oversee goals and objectives, the development of budgets and management of resources, program assessment and evaluation, and policies and procedures. Serves as the Division’s Primary Public Information Liaison Coordinator.
Financial and Operational Leadership: Leads the budget review and resource allocation process for the Division of Student Affairs, including establishing procedures and overseeing accounting for both the division and the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Serves as the primary advisor to the VPSA on matters related to affiliated departments: Finance, Human Resources, Technology Services, and Facilities Management. Manages and monitors the division’s salary structure. Oversees and approves all construction, renovation, and maintenance projects within the division. Provides final approval and signature authority for all business and human resources activities.
Student Affairs Fee Advisory Board (SAFAB): Serves as the primary advisor to the Student Affairs Fee Advisory Board (SAFAB), a nine-member student board charged with making recommendations to the VPSA regarding appropriated fees such as the University Advancement Fee, the Recreational Sports Fee, the Health Center Fee, and the University Center Fee.
Representative for the Division of Student Affairs: Represents the Division of Student Affairs at appropriate activities and functions both internally and externally to the university. Serves as a resource for students, parents, and other constituents in helping them solve problems and obtain information.
Committee and Program Involvement: Serves on multiple Division, University, or National Committees as appropriate. Directs the Division’s Student Assistance Program, including meeting with students and allocating annual funds to support those facing financial hardship.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree in higher education or related field from an accredited college/university.
Eight years of executive level managerial and supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent terminal degree in higher education or related field.
Eight years of executive level managerial and supervisory experience, with at least four years within a four-year higher education institution.
Prior experience serving as a Chief of Staff in a higher education or similarly complex organizational setting.

Demonstrated experience in report writing and data analysis skills.
Demonstrated experience in project management, speech writing, planning, and presentations. Knowledge of college/university structure, policies, and practices.
