The Operations Manager oversees daily chemical manufacturing operations, including production planning, manufacturing, and maintenance. This role ensures adherence to safety and environmental regulations, drives continuous improvement, and builds a high-performing, accountable team. The Operations Manager works closely with the Plant Manager and cross-functional teams to meet goals related to production, quality, cost, and safety while fostering a culture of operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Oversee production planning and manufacturing operations to meet customer and business demands.

  • Supervise and support team members, including hourly staff and production leaders, to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output.

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and optimize operational efficiency.

  • Coach and develop team members through training, performance management, and professional growth opportunities.

  • Set clear performance expectations, monitor progress, and promote accountability across the team.

  • Conduct root cause analyses for production, process, and quality issues; implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager and other departments on budgeting, capital projects, documentation, and compliance with regulatory and ISO standards.

Minimum Qualifications:


•    Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
•    5+ years of experience in operations within a manufacturing environment (chemical manufacturing strongly preferred).

•    Solid understanding of chemical manufacturing operations, process equipment, automation systems (PLC/DCS—preferably DeltaV), and safe work practices.
•    Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and guide teams in a fast-paced environment.
•    Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
•    Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage across all levels of the organization.
•    Proficient in computer systems and business software; experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is preferred.
•    Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations within the chemical manufacturing industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing operations.

  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).

  • Experience developing and managing annual operating budgets.

The expected compensation range for this position is between $91,800.00 and $153,100.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
