Overview:

 

This role is to develop, communicate, and manage the detailed production plans required for the Allentown converting site and applicable outside converting operations to effectively fulfill Customer (internal and contract converting) orders.  This position is to provide site wide leadership in the ongoing operation of the Allentown sheeting site. This leader will maximize the safe and profitable operation of the Allentown sheeting and packaging assets through the coordination and implementation of optimum scheduling systems to ensure our customers receive their orders correctly and on-time.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage Sappi order fulfillment, contract converting through Allentown and 3rd Party converting of Sappi products.
  • Optimize sheeter capacity and customer demand through detail planning and scheduling
  • Minimize scheduling / production bottlenecks
  • Execute the order delay process ensuring that previously made customer commitments are maintained and supported 
  • Execute the order over / under process ensuring that previously made customer commitments are maintained and supported 
  • Steer orders to most cost effective (manufacturing and distribution) resources
  • Minimize "lost orders" and manage “ripple” effects to meet future required delivery-times and volumes
  • Ensure synchronization of various IT systems data to support a reliable Available To Promise (ATP) Process
  • Manage inventory of vital supplies to support efficient production plan against customer commitments  
  • Maintain regular communication with all members of Inside Sales, Outside Sales, Mill Operations, Central Operations Planning, and production groups including routine and ad hoc conference calls and/or production meetings as needed.
  • Participate in various Mill and Supply Chain Management projects
  • The work of this position is such that it will require coverage on a seven day a week basis, including off hours as needed to support the operation
  • Responsible to ensure work is done on site safely and properly to ensure top quality and service to the customer.  Responsible to develop processes to help support this goal and to follow-up to make sure all employees follow procedures.
  • Troubleshoot system, label, and printer issues
  • Serve as backup and/ or additional site resource supporting Capability Development Leader (CDL) responsibilities

 

Skills

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in supply chain management, scheduling, and the paper industry is a plus
  • Methodical problem solving ability
  • Solid personal computer skills, including MS Excel and Access
  • Experience with MICS and/or SAP and CIMS is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written
  • Very high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to self-direct and motivate
  • Level headed balancing of multiple tasks and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts and build an engaged workforce
  • Must be able and willing to confront others and hold them accountable for following proper procedures
  • Must be able to display professional communication and attitude with internal and contract converting customers at all times without becoming upset
  • Must be highly reliable and committed to customer focus and the success of the business
  • Leadership skills with relatable manufacturing operations experience  
  • Knowledge and experience using LSS, Kaizan, Lean and KT methodologies for problem solving and continuous improvement – LSS Green belt certification is preferred
