Associate Mechanical Engineer

 

Your main responsibilities

Purpose of Position: Perform Application Engineering activities.

The Associate Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design and application of solutions using engineering fundamentals and established practices, procedures, and guidelines.

The position will engage and be a critical link in the project life cycle, providing technical support, task management, delivery, and process flow innovation in the areas of mechanical engineering.

    Workload Management: Effectively manage a large workload of projects with predefined contract requirements. Meet and exceed Service Level Agreement requirements.

    Deliverable Management: Accomplish specified technical objectives on time and to customers’ expectations. Responsibilities include submittals, change orders, release to manufacturing, and customer/field communications.

    Engineering Excellence: Assist in defining new techniques to improve process flow and eliminate defects. Suggest new methods to reduce cost and increase efficiency.


Main Tasks:
–    Prepare layouts and elevator configurations
–    Perform elevator calculation e.g.
–    traction calculation
–    drive calculation
–    guide rail calculation
–    Define the specification of elevator
–    Select the elevator components and pre-approved technical solutions
–    Assemble the owner documentation

Authority:
–    Sign Application Engineering documentation

Scope of Responsibility:
–    Finalize layout drawings in AutoCAD, including building specific details when required.
–    Review customer submittals (with mark ups) and discuss clarifications with Project Manager.
–    Design, modify, or apply components and systems using engineering methods and techniques to meet specified technical objectives.
–    Analyze and solve complex design, application, manufacturing, installation and service problems.
–    Implement defect prevention procedures or processes in product design or application.
–    Provide effective task management to accomplish specified technical objectives on time.
–    Present technical reports and findings to Schindler management, internal customers – field superintendents, branch management and to external customers.
–    Prepare and conduct technical training for all departments.
–    Strong understanding of Elevator Codes ANSI A17.1 and Schindler Group ON’s
–    Coordination with Sales, Field Superintendents, project leads (in HQ and field), program / product line teams, research and development and engineers, managers within department teams. 
–    Strong working knowledge of estimating tools, MathCAD and AutoCAD
–    Analyze and solves complex product issues (Root Cause Analysis, SPSP)
–    Perform technical document review of ordering information and product specifications, when requested of R&D and program teams.
–    Actively identifies opportunities for improvement in product, process, and costs
–    Demonstrates a commitment to customer service; serves and satisfies internal and external customers; holds self-accountable for quality outcomes.
–    Collaborates in a leadership and support role, to effectively drive projects and deliverables to completion.
–    Seeks out ways to achieve objectives and improve organizational and individual performance.
–    Shares experiences, ideas, goals with enthusiasm and confidently justifies and maintains own position or decisions when challenged.

What you bring

Education    
    Technical University: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
    Internal Application Engineering training (tools, methods)

Experience    
    0-2 years experience

Skills    
    Maintain positive and professional attitude in a highly demanding environment
    Project management planning/ time management
    Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people with diverse backgrounds 
    Ability to build positive, cooperative, team-oriented relationships
    Computer skills – Microsoft Office, SAP

Special Requirements    
    Travel 5% - domestic
