Warehouse Loader Second Shift Leadperson Job Summary: Working leader responsible for overseeing second shift by directing staff workload, serving as a liaison to management, ensuring a safe and productive work environment, and assisting with warehouse and yard duties as needed.
- Meet or exceed the expectations of our customers by providing a positive customer experience.
- Direct, coordinate, and assign daily tasks for second shift staff.
- Monitor reports to ensure accurate pulling, loading, and inventory levels.
- Keep management informed of progress, events, and needs.
- Provide input on employee performance and assist with training new staff.
- Receive, put away, and pull product for shipment; load orders accurately for delivery.
- Work environment is 60% outdoors and 40% indoors, must be prepared for increment weather
- Ability to load pipe, pallets , and packages accurately onto flatbed trailers utilizing industrial lift equipment
- Answer after-hours calls, assisting employees, customers, and others, escalating issues to management as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, safety, and appearance of the building.
- Ensure regular, reliable attendance and promote safe work practices.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Acting as the liaison between management and second shift staff, the Shift Leadperson is responsible for overseeing second shift and expected to do the following:
- Direct, coordinate, and assign daily tasks and work assignments.
- Train new employees.
- Keep management informed of overall shift developments and staff performance (i.e. staffing or resources needed, progress/delays, safety issues, team concerns and suggestions, etc.).
- Informal problem solving.
- Maintain a safe, productive, and professional work environment for second shift.
The Second Shift Leadperson may provide input to management but does not have full authority or exercise full decision-making authority in the following areas.
- Hiring.
- Disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
- Complaint/grievance resolution.
- Formal written performance evaluation.
- Reclassification, promotion/demotion, pay.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of warehouse and yard layouts, including product types.
- Strong understanding of company policies, procedures, and applicable OSHA regulations.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt in a fast-paced environment, and handle stress effectively.
- Strong motivation, delegation, and leadership skills; sets a positive example for the shift.
- Proficient in computer use with working knowledge of Eclipse; able to operate standard office equipment.
- Sound judgment in determining when to escalate issues to management.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with or without a calculator.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or
- One to two years of related experience and training; or
- Equivalent combination of experience and education.
Certifications and/or Licenses:
- Ability to pass operator exam and drive powered industrial equipment.
