Job Summary:

The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for the management and execution of all aspects while ensuring that value is created for our customers, associates, and Sunland.  This position will have a 12 hour flex schedule between our 4th & 5th weekend shifts for Fri, Sat, and Saturday.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Accomplishes warehouse operations human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures. 
  • Achieves warehouse operations operational objectives by contributing warehouse operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends. 
  • Meets warehouse operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. 
  • Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping. 
  • Develops warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new equipment. 
  • Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process work flow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout; implementing changes. 
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisors, Team Leads, Non-exempt Associates 

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

 

  • Managed a stand-alone distribution center with 35 full-time associates and a limited number of temps during peak season and at least two direct reports (supervisors). 
  • P & L responsibility, familiar with AP, invoicing, etc.  
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology, process improvement, etc.  
  • Experience tracking metrics, measuring productivity, etc.  
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA and ISO quality management systems  
  • Ability to manage a multi-shift operation 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite  
  • Proven leadership in similar operations  
  • Strong analytical and financial skills  
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality  
  • Detailed and goal oriented  
  • The position interacts with customers, vendors, and employees and reports directly to the Site Manager.  


 Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations, supply chain management, business or related field. 
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in supervision/management of a fast-paced logistics/warehousing/distribution operation. 
  • Hands on knowledge of WMS or other systems (Infor, Red Prairie, Manhattan, etc.)  

 

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: 

Possess or have ability to become forklift certified
