Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.
With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

JOB SUMMARY:
The associate coordinator of the Academic Success Center (ASC) is a full-time twelve-month position responsible for outreach activities within the ASC and training for discipline-specific tutors. The associate coordinator of the ASC is responsible for high school class visits, college classroom visits, and coordinating/leading the creation of materials and events to support student success. The associate coordinator also assists the coordinator with hiring and orientation of tutors.
Due to the need for interaction with students, employees and the college community this position requires in-person presence. This position is eligible for telework.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Teaches 8 credits per academic year in English, Humanities or related discipline.·
Provide outreach and support for disciplines across the campus, including but not limited to: holding workshops; meeting with classes at the College or at area high schools; providing specific assignment assistance.
Coordinate the creation of video and print materials to support student success.
Assist the coordinator with hiring and orientation of tutors.
Assist the coordinator with providing professional development opportunities for ASC tutors.
Assist with the administration and recording of writing skills assessments for Cecil College as needed.
Provide tutoring to students.
Participate in Professional Development to keep current with the latest trends in Academic Success Centers, tutoring and testing centers.
Participate in College Information Nights.
Attend Math and English department meetings as needed.
Serve as a committee member on the Academic Support Group, and other committees as needed.
Serve as a trained backup for the coordinator as testing center administrator.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
Master’s degree in English, English education, or related academic discipline or equivalent strongly preferred.
Previous teaching / tutoring experience and experience managing others.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
College-level tutoring experience.
Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interface well at all organizational levels within the college and with outside contacts with students and the public.
Strong technology skills with knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:
General schedule is Monday-Friday; 8am-4:30pm.
Must be available for occasional evenings or weekend assignments. Flexibility in work hours may be required depending on departmental needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving.

This is a exempt (salaried) position (not eligible for overtime) Grade 114 (pay scale:$154,066-86,505). The salary offered for the position based on budget is $64,000-$67,000. Applicants' initial salary placement is based on internal equity and relevant candidate experience.
