What we are looking for:

The Manufacturing Training Specialist is responsible for evaluating and identifying workforce skill training needs, creating effective training materials, and supporting the delivery of quality training programs for manufacturing areas. The Manufacturing Training Specialist will work with cross-functional teams within the manufacturing sector of the workforce as well as with Human Resources. They play a crucial role in ensuring employees are well-versed in production processes, safety protocols, equipment operation, and quality standards. This role involves a blend of instructional design, hands-on industrial training, and collaboration with various stakeholders to align training initiatives with operational goals.

What you will do:

  • Training Program Development: Design and develop comprehensive training programs and materials, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), job aids, multimedia content, and e-learning modules, job-specific skills, safety, compliance, and cross-training.
  • Training Delivery: Conduct engaging and effective training sessions, both in a classroom and hands-on production environment, for machine operators, setup technicians, and maintenance personnel.
  • Needs Assessment and Gap Analysis: Collaborate with supervisors, subject matter experts (SMEs), and leadership to identify training needs, conduct skills assessments, and analyze training gaps across departments.
  • Curriculum Management: Create, update, and maintain job-specific curricula and training matrices to ensure consistency, relevance, and alignment with organizational goals and technical standards.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) Administration: Manage and track training activities, including uploading courses, maintaining user data, ensuring accurate records, troubleshooting user issues, and generating reports from the LMS.
  • Training Effectiveness Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, audits, and feedback sessions to measure skill application, adherence to standards, and overall program efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives like Lean events, recommend improvements to training tools, methods, and documentation, and contribute to competency model development.
  • Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, quality, production, safety, and HR to ensure training programs are aligned with operational goals and address identified needs.
  • Be proactive and possess strong research skills, resolve issues and drive training initiatives independently or within a team environment
  • Maintain manufacturing learning and procedural materials to ensure accuracy and best practices.
  • Track completion of training programs to ensure consistent and timely training delivery across manufacturing areas.
  • Report training compliance to individual trainees, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate, constructive, and timely feedback to trainees, supervisors, and cell leads to support performance excellence.

Who you are:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Education, Training & Development, or a related field; equivalent technical experience will be considered.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience supporting training initiatives, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Experience in manufacturing or related environment. Manufacturing process and skill trades expertise a plus.
  • Experience with training creation & delivery.
  • LMS Proficiency: Proficient in the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS), training development tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
