About the Department
Grays Harbor College is accepting applications for a Maintenance Mechanic 2. This position is the journey level of the series. Positions at this level perform a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction of buildings, grounds, machinery, mechanical facilities and equipment. Incumbents work independently and utilize a general knowledge of several related skill fields such as plumbing, electrical, welding, carpentry, and machinist work.

Position Duties
- Performs skilled work in carpentry, plumbing, steam fitting, electrical, mechanical and machinist work.
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as electrical drive motors, kitchen, laboratory and air-conditioning equipment; changes oil, greases, changes or cleans filters, drive belts, sprockets, shafts, and bearings to ensure proper operation.
- Performs minor repairs on building fixtures, plumbing, heating, laundry and kitchen equipment, motors and electrical appliances.
- Performs maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical connections, switches, circuits, electrical equipment, thermostats, and valves.
- Monitor safety, fire protection and environmental control equipment to ensure the building systems and equipment are operation in a satisfactory condition; respond to service request and secure necessary assistance; take preventative and emergency action to control malfunctions.
- Operates hand tools, power tools and other shop equipment; fabricates materials and equipment.
- Repairs windows, doors, screens, floors, floor coverings, and painted surfaces.
- Operates automotive equipment to transport materials and supplies.
- Performs general plumbing repairs and maintenance to sinks, toilets and faucets.
- Keeps and updates work orders and records in facility management software.
- Position may lead or supervise lower level staff.
Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications- High School Graduation or GED.
- Four or more years of experience in maintenance and/or construction trades.
- Valid drivers license
- Maintenance shop experience in a commercial, health-care or educational environment.
- Experience with Facility Management software.
