Job Description:As a GL Accountant, you'll play a key role in financial analysis and reporting for our Belgian and Dutch legal entity. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll drive month-end closures, ensure accurate reporting, and collaborate with the finance community to implement best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain General Ledger Accounts: Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger collaborating closely with the AP and AR Shared Service Center.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Fixed Asset Accounting: Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, ensure accurate capitalization, depreciation, and disposal of assets in accordance with accounting standards and company policy. Support asset audits and ensure proper documentation and tagging.
- Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Closings: Prepare and complete timely financial closings, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Financial Reporting: Generate accurate financial statements and reports for management review.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits (including tax audits) by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, company policies, and relevant regulations including applicable statistical reporting.
- Tax reporting: Ensure accurate recording of tax related entries (e.g. VAT, CIT, WHT). Prepare and submit periodic tax reports and returns in compliance with local regulations.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the EMEA Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

- Identify, implement and embed any Excellence initiatives to improve quality, performance and efficiency of the team to facilitate outstanding customer experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, Accounting, or a related field.
- 5 years of accounting experience, with a solid background in tax and audit processes in a similar role within an international environment.
- Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP and IFRS reporting standards.
- Proficient in ERP software, we use IFS.
- Excellent analytical skills with hands-on financial expertise.
- Organized, adaptable and capable of balancing multiple tasks.
- Able to see the bigger picture while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Fluent in English; Dutch fluency or willingness to learn Dutch is required
