About the role
As Academic Support Coordinator, you will design and deliver an integrated program of academic support that responds to the diverse learning needs, cultural backgrounds, and goals of students. Your responsibilities will include subject specific mentoring, running targeted workshops, supporting students at risk, and collaborating with professional and teaching staff to address emerging challenges. A strong focus of the role is early intervention, helping students particularly younger and underperforming learners—overcome barriers to success and articulate smoothly to their next stage of study. You will also play a key role in fostering student engagement and wellbeing, connecting with RMIT’s extensive support services, and contributing to initiatives that drive retention, engagement, and overall student success.
About You
You will bring:
A relevant tertiary qualification at postgraduate level (Education, Applied Linguistics, TESOL or related discipline).
Experience teaching international students, particularly in ELICOS, VCE or Foundation Studies.
Strong knowledge of curriculum design, learning support strategies and student-centred approaches.
Demonstrated ability to identify and support students at risk, including Under 18s.
Excellent interpersonal and mentoring skills with the ability to build rapport across diverse cultural backgrounds.
A collaborative approach, working effectively with academic and professional staff to support student success.
Well-developed problem-solving, organisation and reporting skills.
Knowledge of compliance frameworks in the international education sector.
Proficiency with MS Office and experience using student management systems and online learning platforms.
What we offer you
