Job Summary:

Under general direction, this position will oversee and prioritize all aspects of small to mid-sized facilities and a limited number of accounts. The incumbent will manage the day-to-day planning and organizing of shop personnel and projects to meet business needs. The incumbent will manage facility audits, inventory, budgets, and meeting goals. Execute change management plans for any shop changes. Oversee and/or manage facility staffing. Consult with leadership on equipment updates, details, and reporting. This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends in addition to overtime; it requires full-time attendance.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with Operations teams daily on equipment needs and requests through answering phones, reviewing daily reports, assisting drivers, and other requests as needed

  • Oversee expenses related to shop management in order to maintain the budget; identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency

  • Maintain the company's safety culture by promoting a safe work environment in compliance with federal and state regulations, conducting safety meetings, mock OSHA inspections, modeling safe work habits, etc.

  • Perform ready line inspections to ensure quality, proper repair procedures are followed and equipment meets all federal and state DOT requirements

  • Perform multiple personnel management tasks including but not limited to staffing, performance management, annual reviews, and time and attendance

  • Monitor shop workflow to improve utilization and production and meet our customers' needs

  • Perform daily operational tasks as needed including estimates, down unit reporting, yard checks, etc.

  • Oversee safety training of all employees to reduce worker compensation costs and cultivate a positive safety culture

  • Perform EPA and state regulations testing and reporting

  • Work with Foreman for proper job coding, warranty, rail and customer damage recovery, and proper parts usage

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Manage new hire orientation and onboarding process

  • Manage employee staffing and scheduling of shop and service trucks to meet customer needs, reduce equipment downtime, and limit outsourcing costs

  • Oversee technical training for employees, ensure proper diagnostic and repair procedures are followed to control and reduce maintenance and cost

Shift Schedule:      Shifts may vary based upon location and business needs.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent with up to 5 years of related experience and/or military equivalent experience, and 3-5 years of direct or indirect management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to act professionally

  • Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums

  • Ability to capture and document relevant business information in an auditable, organized, and easily retrievable manner

  • Ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment

  • Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)

  • Ability to form and manage effective teams

  • Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

  • Ability to work both individually and as a team

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work with under minimal direction

Compensation:

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.  This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
