POSITION: Communications Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Administration
REPORTS TO: Communications Manager
LOCATION: Native American Health Center, Inc. (NAHC)
WORK HOURS: Full Time, 40 hours per week, 100% FTE
STATUS: Non-Union, Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications Coordinator will work closely with all departments in the organization to bolster communications efforts. The Communications Coordinator, under the guidance of the Communications Manager, will lead Native American Health Center’s (NAHC) social media presence and develop print and multi-media materials for NAHC to deliver effective campaigns, drive membership, and build brand awareness and trust.
The Native American Health Center is an accredited institution and adheres to the standards of excellence set forth by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA).
Candidates may be requested to provide a portfolio or examples of previous work. Additionally, applicants may be required to complete a task or short exam designed to demonstrate their relevant skill set.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
BRAND DEVELOPMENT
1. Support the development, implementation and facilitation of NAHC Communication Strategies
2. Ensure consistency in brand image and voice across all of NAHC’s internal and external communications
3. Maintain NAHC’s social media presence and compile analytic reports, recommending and implementing new engagement and growth strategies as needed
4. Support website updates and maintain website event calendar
PROJECT COORDINATION
5. Respond to internal and external communications requests while managing competing deadlines
6. Responsible for disseminating inter-agency and community-focused communications
7. Actively participate in staff meetings, workshops, and trainings; as well as coordinate activities with collaborating agencies
8. Oversee media inventory and equipment checkouts and returns
9. Support the planning and implementation of special events and fundraisers
10. Maintain and develop relationships with external vendors to order print and other marketing materials
11. Manage NAHC Media Interns, as needed
CONTENT CREATION
12. Serve as NAHC photographer and videographer for events and communication projects
13. Support video production through script development, filming, and video editing
14. Write compelling content for:
a. Social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok
b. NAHC’s website
c. External press releases
d. Internal announcements
e. Print materials, including brochures, rack cards, and flyers
15. Develop and design high-quality and on-brand graphics and layouts for communication materials
16. Employee Safety: Safely performs all duties; follows required protective protocols to ensure personal safety as well the safety of others.
17. Must maintain compliance with ergonomic safety standards; be mindful of posture and regularly practice ergonomic stretches.
18. Quality Improvement: Actively participate in internal quality improvement teams and work with members proactively to drive quality improvement initiatives in
accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards, when assigned.
19. HIPAA: Keep all protected health information (PHI) confidential and abide by HIPAA policies for the release and disclosure of any PHI. Will report unauthorized use of disclosure of PHI immediately, to supervisor or HIPAA security officer.
20. Work well under pressure, meet multiple and often competing deadlines.
21. At all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with supervisors, subordinates, colleagues, clients and the community.
22. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must have a Bachelor’s degree.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to learn and master new communication formats quickly.
3. Must have experience in marketing, communications, or journalism with demonstrated skills in writing, designing, and producing marketing materials for
non-profit organizations.
4. Familiarity with social media best practices and leading social media campaigns.
5. Expertise with Microsoft Office software, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and WordPress.
6. Familiar with DSLR and mirrorless cameras, as well as photography and videography techniques and editing processes
7. Eager to learn about non-profit community health care
8. Eager to learn about the San Francisco Bay Area Native American community
9. Organized, efficient, reliable and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative teamwork.
10. Desire to problem solve and think creatively.
11. Ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds, training, and experience.
12. Must be able to provide TB and Physical clearance prior to start date.
13. CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days and kept current at all times.
14. Able to furnish Vaccination history prior to start date dependent on role.
