Heavy Equipment Operator/ Test Track Maintenance

Description: 

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for supporting the site maintenance process by trouble shooting, implementing preventative maintenance, and repair of all test course track maintenance. Daily site and course maintenance will be maintained by implementing the use of heavy equipment as well as manually repairing and maintaining the facility grounds to provide the ability to test off-road vehicles in accordance to company requirements. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Minimum of five (5+) years heavy equipment operation experience in a construction environment, or maintenance division of road construction. Building of off-road vehicle tracks, road building or maintenance is a plus. 
  • Must be 18+ years of age 
  • Must possess valid driver’s license  
  • High School Diploma required
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen 
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and prioritize work requirements for skilled trades 
  • Good written and verbal interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access and Project Software applications. 
  • Ability to work independently for periods of time without continual supervision.  
  • Must be willing to travel if need arises  
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Self-starter with a “can do” attitude  
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced working knowledge of heavy equipment 
  • Must have high values in ethics, integrity and adhere to strict confidentiality agreement 
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment in extreme conditions such as weather, terrain, etc. 

Job duties to include but not limited to:               

  • Prepare functional specifications and attend design review meetings to have a daily or weekly plan for progress and ability to complete off-road vehicle testing.    
  • Load and unload construction supplies 
  • Move materials used for test track with the use of a variety of sources from heavy equipment to small hand tools 
  • Material loading and unloading both manually & with the use of heavy equipment 
  • Complete grounds maintenance including but not limited to: Snow removal, landscaping, internal and external maintenance on shop structures, test track road grading, test track ground watering, fire hazard road maintenance prevention (brush clearing, dirt banks etc. 
  • In accordance with EPA, OSHA and other environmental and safety regulations, safely and efficiently operate including, not limited to the following heavy equipment as well as manual repairs throughout the test track and property: 
  • Excavators 
  • Backhoe 
  • Bulldozers 
  • Graders 
  • Wheel Tractor Scraper 
  • Trenchers 
  • Loaders 
  • Compactors 
  • Telehandlers 
  • Dump Trucks 
  • Water Truck 
  • Safely operate off-highway equipment to transport raw materials and/or finished products throughout the facility in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Inspect Equipment. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurately completing daily mobile equipment reports and other relevant documentation. 
  • Maintain Equipment. Maintain equipment performance by checking vehicle fluid levels and adding correct fluids as necessary and assisting in performing other minor maintenance. 
  • Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings. Monitor the plant and operations and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments that may be required to ensure safety. 
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. 
  • Inspect, clean, and perform operator level maintenance on equipment in accordance with standards. 
  • Closely interact with on site manager for movement of materials and equipment 
  • Follow related safety regulations, contract requirements, company policies, and operating procedures. 
  • Ensure equipment is properly utilized, maintained, and stored 
  • Complete necessary documentation, reporting, with limited office duties
