About the Position:
Harris Health System is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for Correctional Health at the 1200 Main Clinic. The LVN provides patient care and education under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, physician assistant, physician, dentist, or podiatrist. Using the nursing process, the LVN addresses patients’ physical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs while assisting in determining predictable healthcare needs. The LVN delivers individualized, goal-directed care and coordinates with the healthcare team to enhance patient understanding and outcomes within the LVN scope of practice.

Responsibilities:
Provide patient care and education under appropriate clinical supervision
Apply the nursing process to assess and address patient needs
Assist in identifying predictable healthcare needs with defined outcomes
Deliver individualized and goal-directed nursing care
Coordinate care across healthcare team members for optimal patient understanding
Operate computers, IV pumps, vital signs monitors, and other unit-specific equipment
Requirements:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
Licensure & Certifications:
Current Texas LVN license
Basic Life Support (BLS) from an American Heart Association (AHA)-approved program
Other certifications as required by unit/service
Experience:
Experience in area of specialty preferred
Skills & Proficiencies:
Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact)
Knowledge of medical terminology
Analytical skills
PC proficiency
Work Schedule:
Flexible; includes weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call
