This position will be accountable for successfully investigating, reserving, assigning and settling first party property losses while delivering superior customer service. The ideal candidate will operate in the full file model and handle all claims virtually by selecting the proper estimating resource to adjudicate the claim, ensuring all claim handling meets quality and compliance standards.
Manage Claim Files:
- Handle assigned claims in a manner consistent with corporate claim policies and procedures, and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements and business unit goals.
- Properly assess the exposure of assigned claims; set appropriate and timely reserves.
- Manage all aspects of assigned claims, which includes initial claim contact, reserve and execute accurate and timely payments, investigate coverage and recovery opportunities, manage file to timely resolution, and complete all data integrity components.
- Utilize organization and communication skills to effectively resolve assignments, manage claim deadlines, and appropriately manage vendors.
- Develop technical and jurisdictional expertise, including knowledge of independent adjusters, contractors, vendors, etc.

- Maintain dedication to meeting or exceeding expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, gaining their trust and respect. Demonstrate diplomacy and tact to effectively avoid or diffuse high-tension situations.

What are we looking for?
- College Degree strongly preferred to include extracurricular or volunteer activities desired.
- Minimum of 1 year property claim handling experience, including Xactimate estimating experience; 3 years preferred
- Demonstrated high level of performance in current or past roles
- Xactimate Certification is a plus
- Proficient in preparing and evaluating structural damage estimates in Xactimate on moderate complexity personal property losses.
- Proficient in moderate complexity personal property coverage analysis.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills inclusive of investigation, decision making and conflict resolution, with attention to detail.
- Ability to negotiate for resolution.
- Ability to coach and mentor peers.
- Effective time-management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to create and maintain loyal customers through your actions.

What else can you tell me?
- You will be required to successfully complete a virtual multi-week New Hire Training Course and, upon completion, obtain a passing score on the final course assessment. You will be required to successfully pass the exam(s) within 30 business days from the completion of New Hire Training. You should have no conflicts during training.
- You must obtain and maintain a State Adjuster’s License to process Property & Casualty Insurance Claims in the states supported by your department. You will be required to successfully pass the Licensing exam(s) before training begins.
- • Adjuster License required to be obtained prior to start of training January 19th, 2026. Licensing prep time will be fully paid from January 5th - January 16th, 2026.
• You will be required to successfully complete a multi-week New Hire Training Course.
• Must be available for the multi-week training from January 19, 2026 - March 27, 2026.
• Training will likely include 1 week of travel to the Chicago area (Naperville, IL) for an in-person learning lab at the end of March. - This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Scottsdale, AZ, a Naperville, IL, Alpharetta, GA) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
