The City of Greensboro’s Building Maintenance Division is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Technician – HVAC to join our dedicated team. This role is designed for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience while contributing to the efficient operation of the City’s facilities.

About the Role
As a Maintenance Technician – HVAC, you will assist with the installation, repair, troubleshooting, renovation, and maintenance of HVAC equipment across City facilities. This entry-level role provides an excellent foundation for career growth in the skilled trades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist HVAC mechanics/supervisors with repairs and installations
- Use HVAC hand tools and power tools to support maintenance activities
- Gain knowledge of building/construction materials and HVAC equipment functionality
- Read and interpret blueprints under supervision
- Operate a computer system to manage work orders
- Comply with OSHA standards, local and state codes, and industry procedures
- Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods

What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED with 1-3 years of HVAC experience - i.e. installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, &/or repair
- “OR” No High School Diploma/GED with 5-7 years of HVAC experience - i.e. installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, &/or repair
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience/knowledge of building automation systems (e.g., Trane Tracer, Johnson Controls)
- Experience/familiarity with other trades such as carpentry, plumbing, or electrical
- Experience with iPads, software, or general office equipment
