About this opportunity :
The Associate Director is responsible for coordinating the analytical testing requirements to support research and development projects primarily focused on oligonucleotides.
The position is challenged from a technical perspective to determine the best approach to analytical problem solving. The position must plan for the most efficient utilization of resources (people and equipment). The position must strike the best balance in project scoping and delivery that meets customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage the deployment of the technical resource available to meet, as effectively as possible, the objectives and priorities of the Analytical Development group and the business
- Determine the scope and resources required for new projects or changes to existing projects
- Analyze and review project data, correct errors, and report results for multiple projects to support research and development primarily focused on oligonucleotides
- Author and approve scientific and regulatory documentation for development, qualification, verification, validation, and transfer of analytical methods
- Provide professional scientific leadership in all internal and external interactions
- Participate in the recruitment of technical staff to maintain an effective level of technical ability and human resources for current and future business requirements.
- Develop and lead inter-department objectives to share best practices and promote continuous improvement and technical excellence
- Exercise latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments and empowers others in the department appropriately
- Contribute to department strategic plan for analytical services and resources
- Mediate personnel conflicts within and across departments and promote a positive work atmosphere
- Motivates, develops, and coaches members of the group to achieve identified objectives, maximize their potential and continuously improve effectiveness in meeting business needs.
- Participate with other departments in the development and realization of activities to enable the department to improve its support to the business and in a changing environment.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- PhD Degree with at least 10 years of industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Analytical chemistry knowledge including theory and application of fundamental analytical techniques for identification, purity, and assay of multiple analytes
- Knowledge of industry standards for quality and regulatory compliance
- Project and people management skills
- Analytical and conceptual thinking skills with the ability to synthesize information to solve complex problems and communicate results

The annualized salary range for this role is $154,400.00 - $188,800.00.
