| Salary / FLSA / Non-exempt Teacher Assistant / Grade 59  ($16.48 - $22.23 per hour); plus local supplement, if applicable Sub Bus Driver / Grade 51B  ($15.00 - $17.00 per hour)   The salary for this position is based upon the successful applicant’s years of service in the NC State Retirement System in the same or similar position. Experience outside of this system is not recognized for pay purposes. For current Lincoln County School employees, this position will be paid according to the current Lincoln County Schools’ pay scale.   | 
| Nature of Work Under general supervision, a teacher assistant will perform a variety of technical and clerical tasks in assisting a teacher. Employee may perform a wide range of tasks in order to support the efforts of the teacher, meet the needs of all students, and ensure the provision of quality instruction for all students.  Employee provides one-on-one assistance with academics, behavioral problems, and personal and self-helps skills and may lead small group activities. Employee assists teacher with general housekeeping, clerical duties, and personal care needs of students.   | 
| Qualifications & Requirements   
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record that qualifies employee to obtain and maintain a valid NCCDL and drive a bus as directed by the supervisor.  Must comply with all rules and regulations governing the safe operation of a school bus.Working knowledge of effective methods of working with studentsWorking knowledge of the core subjects at the grade level to which employment assignment is madeSome knowledge of the school organization and its communitySome knowledge of expected behavior of students and basic characteristics of ages and stagesSkill necessary to operate audiovisual and technological equipment and common office machinesSkill to make learning aids which will strengthen lesson plansAbility to comprehend the purpose of teacher-designed strategies as a fulfillment of the instructional objectiveAbility to discern significant student behavior and refer this to the supervisorAbility to impart information to the student’s level of comprehensionAbility to apply, impartially and consistently, proper methods of recognition, reward and punishmentAbility to solve independently most minor problemsAbility to follow minimally detailed written and oral instructions without constant supervisionAbility to record and store data accuratelyAbility to maintain confidentiality of student informationAbility to establish and maintain working relationships with parents, students, teachers, staff, and administratorsThe employee provides support to the teacher in the instruction of studentsResponsibilities: A wide variety of tasks are performed to support the teacher in the teaching-learning process for studentsThe work is directed by specific instructions, precedents and established policyProblems are solved through the exercise of judgment in selecting the best course of action to be takenThe work is performed under the limited supervision of the teacher and/or principalGives group instruction as prescribed by teacherMust be able to perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects   |
