STARTING DATE: July 1, 2026
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid teacher certification
2. Valid Supervisory/Administrative Certification – Type 75
3. Successful experience with head coaching preferred.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Work Year: Will be determined according to current District contractual agreement.
2. Fringe Benefits: Health, dental, and life insurance plus sick leave, personal business leave.
3. Salary: To be established by the Board of Education.

JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE OF THE POSITION:
Athletic Director
LOCATION OF THE POSITION:
Tinley Park High School
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
GENERAL DUTIES:
- To assist in maintaining high quality services for staff, students, parents, and community members who utilize the services assigned to this position.
- To assist immediate supervisor in carrying out the duties assigned to that position.
- To strive for positive and collegial public relations with the staff, students, parents and community members.
- To maintain confidentiality in all areas assigned to this position.
- To act as a role model for students and staff and to provide leadership, in the areas assigned to this position, that meets the needs of students, staff, and parents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid teacher certification with background in Physical Education and Health/Driver Education preferred.
2. Valid Supervisory/Administrative Certification – Type 10 or 75
3. Successful experience with coaching preferred.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Possess the ability to speak clearly and be understood by others.
- Possess the ability to write legibly.
- Possess the ability and have received the training to effectively operate a computer, using a PC platform.
- Demonstrate the physical capabilities and energy level to execute the duties assigned to this position.
- Demonstrate the ability to calmly address individuals using the services offered by the position.
- Possess an acceptable attendance history in prior positions and demonstrate the ability to meet the daily attendance requirements of the designated position.
- Possess a successful work history, supported by references, in a work setting similar to the position for which the candidate is applying.

- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to assist in establishing a positive climate in the work environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assumes responsibility for the professional supervision, evaluation, and development of the coaching staff.
- Recruits, interviews, screens, and recommends qualified persons to fill openings on the coaching staff.
- Assists in the day-to-day operation of the physical education program.
- Oversees driver education program.
- Educates and holds coaching staff accountable to policy, procedure, and practice of District 228, South Suburban Conference, and the IHSA.
- Prepares and administers the department budget, and assumes responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining equipment and supplies
- Conducts teacher evaluations.
- Attends relevant school, district, and professional meetings.
- Promotes collegial support for all academic and extracurricular programs.
- Establishes and adheres to a regular schedule of inspection of all athletic facilities and fields to maintain and improve their appearance and safety.
- Responsible for all athletic events including but not limited to supervision, sportsmanship, officials, transportation, fan experience, etc.
- Coordinates practice schedules to ensure equitable opportunities for all athletic programs.
- Responsible for the recognition of athletes and coaches.
- Organizes and coordinates the summer programs.
- Represents Bremen High School District in the South Suburban Conference.
