Job Description: Sea Trial Technician

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sea Trial Technician to join our boating manufacturing team. The Sea Trial Technician will be responsible for conducting thorough sea trials on our vessels to ensure they meet quality, safety, and performance standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality products to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sea trials on new and existing vessels to assess performance, handling, and overall functionality.
  • Prepare vessels for sea trials, including pre-launch inspections, equipment checks, and safety assessments.
  • Monitor and evaluate vessel systems during trials, including propulsion, steering, electrical, and safety systems.
  • Document trial results, noting any discrepancies or performance issues and providing detailed reports to management and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve any identified issues.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards during all sea trials.
  • Perform post-trial inspections and maintenance on vessels as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sea trials, including test conditions, findings, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in boating manufacturing and testing.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior technicians and other team members on sea trial processes and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in marine systems or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of [3-5] years of experience in marine operations, testing, or a related field, preferably within the boating manufacturing industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of marine systems, including propulsion, electrical, and steering systems.
    • Proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving with a keen attention to detail.
    • Excellent observational and analytical skills for evaluating vessel performance.
    • Strong communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with team members.
    • Valid boating license and familiarity with local maritime regulations.
