The material Hander I position will demonstrate the ability to perform multiple-job functions pertaining to material movement effectively using basic knowledge of lean with a focus on safety, highest quality, and inventory control. This person will work in a team environment and will actively embrace continuous improvement by participating in Fortive Business Systems (FBS) initiatives.
Responsibilities & Deliverables
- The ability to work as a team player across departments and shifts to hit goals and make improvements.
- Actively participates in daily visual management (QDIP) to ensure that the team is performing as needed to meet our goals.
- Actively supports and participates in a continuous improvement environment utilizing Lean activities through FBS, Kaizen, and 6S programs.
- Completes all required safety training and actively supports an injury-free workplace.
- Proficient in material handling functions including compliance with OSHA and OHSAS requirements, FIFO, Kanban, material transactions, and work cell replenishment.
- Support DOT, Hazmat or Multi-Modal Hazardous Material compliance training for all team members.
- Participates in the cycle counting process of raw materials and finished goods to sustain inventory accuracy KPI’s.
- Other duties and responsibilities as needed or required.
Organizational Alignment
- This role reports directly to the Shipping Warehouse Supervisor and works very closely with the Procurement, Manufacturing, Service & Shipping teams.
Qualifications
Skills & Work Traits
- Good organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and be able to present information in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Basic understanding of Kanban replenishment systems.
- Highly motivated and proven self-starter to take on daily deliverables.
- Demonstrated dedication to quality and eliminating waste.
- Ability to work within a complex environment with cross-functional teams.
Technical Competencies
- Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year working in a manufacturing and material handling environment.
- DOT, Hazmat or Multi-Modal Hazardous Material compliance
Education
- High School or equivalent experience in warehousing.
