What You'll Do:
- Assist Principal Investigators and Assistant Dean of Budget Administration with the day-to-day grant finance tasks for both internal and external grants, which include tracking and planning for expenditures, implementing budget adjustments and reallocations, reconciling financial reports, reconciling Procard purchasing, and overseeing grant related purchases. Regularly review financial reports and notify the PI of potential concerns or opportunities.
- Provide guidance as the liaison between the PI and various DePaul/CDM administrative offices associated with grant/financial matters (ORS, Accounts Payable, Procurement, Student Employment, Information Services, CDM and University Communications, Event Planning, etc). Ensures compliance with all appropriate DePaul policies and practices, and sponsor rules and requirements regarding grant administration.
- Coordinate with PI and Assistant Dean of Budget Administration on grant-related staffing, which includes advertising and hiring student employees, monitoring employee distributions, verifying active employees, verifying and approving hours as needed, etc.
- Identifies opportunities for collaborations and/or resource sharing among grants in CDM or DePaul. Assist with fundraising projects and sponsored industry-academic research collaborations.
- Assists PIs with budget projections, monitoring and analyzing expenditures, and reconciling reports.
- Approves ProCard transactions, invoices, and reimbursements for for PIs.
- BA required; 2-4 years of relevant work experience, required.
- Experience with budget development and grant management, preferred.
- Experience with detailed tracking/accounting of resources, preferred.
- Basic office experience and computer knowledge required - both Mac and PC.
- Knowledge of both grant and general university guidelines and facilitation, preferred.
- Ability to handle highest level confidential information;
- High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite;
- Excellent quantitative skills, oral and written communication skills, organizational and problem solving skills.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Knowledge of federal and university sponsored programs and research policy.
- Ability to interpret complex grant funding requirements and submissions,
- Ability to interpret federal, state, and local government laws and regulations regarding grant administration;
- Ability to work independently as well as a team member; highest level of attention to detail.
