About the Role:
The Director of Operations in the durable goods manufacturing sector is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all facets of the manufacturing process to ensure efficient production, high-quality output, and timely delivery of products. This role requires strategic leadership to align operational activities with the company’s overall business objectives, driving continuous improvement and innovation. The Director will manage cross-functional teams, coordinate with supply chain, quality assurance, and engineering departments, and implement best practices to enhance productivity and reduce costs. They will also be instrumental in developing and executing operational policies, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and safety standards. Ultimately, this position is critical to sustaining competitive advantage and supporting the company’s growth through operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in operations management within the durable goods manufacturing industry.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale manufacturing operations and managing cross-functional teams.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, supply chain logistics, and quality control standards.
- Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, and operational cost management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related discipline.
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with international manufacturing standards and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated success in driving digital transformation initiatives within manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Develop and implement operational strategies that improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
- Collaborate with supply chain, engineering, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless production workflows and timely delivery.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost control measures to maintain financial performance within operational departments.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven analysis and lean manufacturing principles.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements across manufacturing sites.
- Mentor and develop operations management staff to build a high-performing and motivated team.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare detailed reports for senior leadership to inform decision-making.
