This role reports into our Macedon, NY Headquarters (can be hybrid).

 

WHAT WE NEED

The Associate Category Manager - Indirect Procurement plays a critical role in strategic sourcing and procurement operations for indirect materials and services. This position supports the procurement function by developing and executing sourcing strategies, managing supplier programs, and driving cost efficiencies while ensuring quality, risk mitigation, and compliance with corporate objectives. The Associate Category Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Finance, and Supplier Quality, to align procurement strategies with organizational goals. This role requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive cost savings and process improvements. This team has annual assigned cost-savings goals, and work effectively, to achieve. This is a very data driven, results oriented role!


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Contribute to and execute sourcing strategies for assigned indirect procurement categories, including Capital Equipment, MRO, Chemicals, and Logistics.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize cost, quality, and service across categories while ensuring supplier competition.
  • Conduct market intelligence analysis to anticipate price fluctuations and mitigate risks.
  • Manage full-cycle procurement processes, including RFP development, bid analysis, and contract execution.
  • Implement cost savings initiatives and strategies to drive cost reductions in controllable spend (e.g., negotiable inputs, processing, waste).
  • Support the budgeting process for assigned categories by providing accurate cost projections and financial assessments.
  • Identify diversity spend opportunities in alignment with corporate supplier diversity objectives.
  • Participate in supplier negotiations, leveraging data-driven insights to achieve optimal terms.
  • Collaborate with the Supplier Quality team to assess supplier capabilities and outgoing quality control processes.
  • Drive process improvements in procurement workflows, increasing efficiency and reducing operational costs.
  • Utilize ERP systems (SAP) and business intelligence tools to track procurement performance and generate reports.
  • Maintain compliance with industry regulations (OSHA, FDA) and internal procurement policies.


WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL 

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in business-related discipline (i.e., business, economics, finance, accounting, supply chain) is preferred.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of sourcing or procurement management role to include:
    1. Experience in indirect procurement categories (Capital Equipment, MRO, Chemicals, Logistics) is a plus.
    2. Exposure to RFP processes, supplier negotiations, and cost modeling.
    3. Experience in being managed to cost-savings objectives.
    4. Prior experience in a manufacturing or high-mix, high-volume production environment preferred.
