Position Duties

The Town of Marana is seeking an Engineer in Training (EIT) to work in the Water Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for recent college graduate and/or someone who is interested in providing technical support for engineering activities through assisting with water/wastewater hydraulic modeling system analysis, master planning, engineering plan reviews, and general day-to-day water/wastewater engineering tasks.

 Expected Hiring Range: $22.30 - $27.32/hour

  • placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget

 Salary Range: $22.30 - $32.34/hour

Minimum Qualifications

  • Assists in reviewing public and developer financed construction documents against defined criteria; reviews standard technical reports such as master plans, infrastructure improvement plans, and hydraulic modeling reports.
  • Operates and maintains hydraulic water and sewer models used to track system capacity; conducts analysis to inform development and executes “what if” development scenarios in modeling software.
  • Prepares basic technical memoranda, reports, and presentations to describe results of hydraulic and engineering analysis; assists with preparing construction cost estimates and other engineering support to infrastructure planning and policy making.
  • Assists in investigations of water/sewer related field problems affecting property owners, contractors, and infrastructure operations and maintenance.
  • Assists in observing and documenting construction of water and wastewater infrastructure and construction compliance tests.

Other Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree* in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field.
    • * Applicants expected to graduate in 2026 can be considered. 
  • Engineer in Training certification or ability to obtain within 18 months. 

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered. 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Valid Arizona Driver License
  • Ability to pass both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Experience in ESRI ArcGIS software
  • Experience in hydraulic modeling software – EPAnet, InfoWater, WaterCAD, Sewer GEMS, Etc.
  • Experience in Bluebeam Revu
