The Opportunity

 

As the Manager, Tax Compliance & Reporting, you’ll lead UniSuper’s Tax Reporting & Compliance Team, ensuring we meet our ongoing tax compliance and reporting obligations in Australia and globally. You’ll work closely with business units across UniSuper—including Finance, Investments, and Service & Experience—as well as external parties such as our custodian and tax advisors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the Tax Reporting & Compliance Team to deliver on UniSuper’s tax compliance and reporting obligations (Australia and global).
  • Oversee Australian income tax, GST, FBT, complex international tax obligations, foreign tax filings, and tax provision reporting.
  • Provide tax advice on significant events, projects, operational changes, and special purpose investment vehicles.
  • Partner with Investments and Member-facing teams to advise on investment and superannuation tax matters.
  • Manage relationships with UniSuper’s Custodian and external tax advisors.
  • Respond to tax reviews and audits, supporting the Head of Tax.
  • Coach and develop tax team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Monitor tax legislation and market trends, communicating changes to senior management.
  • Contribute to effective tax risk governance, policies, systems, and procedures.

 

 

About You

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or law; Master of Taxation preferred.
  • CA or CPA qualified.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in superannuation, funds management, or financial services.
  • Strong experience in Australian income tax compliance, reporting, tax effect accounting, and indirect taxes.
  • Technical expertise in income tax advisory, investments taxation, international tax, and superannuation taxation.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
  • Confident communicator, able to engage credibly with senior management, regulators, and external advisors.
