About This Role
The Procurement Category Manager is a seasoned and experienced procurement professional that is responsible for overseeing the procurement process, which includes strategic sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships. This role involves identifying improvements that will save the organization money, meet or exceed project schedules, and build efficiencies.
 
On a Given Day, Your Work Might Include
  • Develops and executes sourcing strategies to optimize cost, quality, delivery, and safety.
  • Manages assigned trades in all aspects of negotiations, market analysis, and contract management.
  • Owns the vendor relationship from onboarding through offboarding, including reference checks and quality reviews.
  • Negotiates favorable contracts to support the organization’s operational and financial goals.
  • Develops strong vendor relationships and monitor performance through regular reviews and corrective actions.
  • Proactively partners with and builds strong relationships with team members and key stakeholders across the organization at all levels.
  • Analyzes market trends, pricing, and supply chain risks to inform procurement decisions.
  • Identifies opportunities and drives continuous improvement to enhance procurement efficiency and effectiveness.  
  • Reviews bids and makes award recommendations, ensuring alignment with cost, quality, and schedule objectives
  • Hosts vendor meetings for bulk award trades and facilitates the first round of bulk award contracting
  • Prepares and presents action plans to the Purchasing Director on process improvements based on cost trends.
  • Partners cross functionally on projects and initiatives as needed or required
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to build and cultivate vendor and internal relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to oversee and execute the bid process from initiation to contract finalization.
  • Experience in managing bulk award processes, including vendor selection and approval tracking.
  • Ability to facilitate vendor meetings and communicate award decisions.
  • Strong presentation skills for senior leadership meetings.
  • Knowledge of budget adjustments, variance tracking, and cost evaluations.
  • Project management overseeing procurement projects through completion.
  • Solving complex problems with creative solutions.
What You Bring to MN Custom Homes
  • Bachelor’s Degree, and
  • 7+ Years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, negotiating, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
  • This position requires frequent use of a computer, including keyboard functions and visual acuity of 20 inches or fewer daily.
  • Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time
  • Be able to lift up to 20 pounds on occasion with or without accommodation. 
  • Must be able to work in office Monday – Friday, within core business hours of 8AM-5PM
Travel & Vehicle Requirements
  • May be required to visit job sites on occasion and/or travel for conferences, etc.

Hours & Compensation 
This is a full-time position paying $109,800 - $164,750. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Individual placement within a salary range will vary based upon factors including but not limited to candidate experience, knowledge, individual, skills, and organizational performance.
