TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time; 10-month plus 20 days

SALARY RANGE: $53,350 - $86,508

General Duties for Midwest Regional Partnership Center Specialists:
As a member of the NYSED Office of Special Education Educational Partnership, specialists will provide regional trainings, technical assistance, and embedded coaching to Educational Organizations (school districts and non-district providers), families, and stakeholders identified through the regional planning process. Specific Divisional Duties for Regional Behavior Specialists:
1. Provide professional development and support to Educational Organizations, families, and stakeholders throughout the Greater Rochester region related to the understanding of social-emotional and behavioral needs.
2. Facilitate school and district teams in analyzing data related to areas of behavioral outcomes for students with disabilities and lead teams in the creation of support plans designed to lead to systems change resulting in improved outcomes for students with disabilities.
3. Provide targeted professional development and technical assistance directly aligned to issues related to gaps identified through a needs assessment and root cause analysis process.
4. Work collaboratively with all members of the Educational Partnership to carry out the regional workplan to improve outcomes for students with disabilities in a coordinated and cohesive manner.
5. Engage in capacity building activities with identified districts as prescribed by New York State Department of Education and the Regional Planning Process.
6. Utilize tools, training materials and processes developed by the Technical Assistance Partnership (TAPs) and approved by NYSED to provide Professional Development and Technical Assistance to stakeholders in the region.
7. Participate in and receive coaching from NYSED and TAP providers as determined through annual needs assessment.
8. Regular travel across Monroe 1, Monroe 2, Wayne-Finger Lakes, and Genesee Valley BOCES regions.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree or higher is required. NYS Certification in special education, education, psychology, school psychology, school counseling, and/or a related field preferred.
2. Experience delivering professional development is required.
3. Experience in coaching and engaging in school improvement work is preferred.
4. Five years of experience as a teacher, school counselor, school psychologist, transition coordinator, or related service provider with students with disabilities preferred
5. Possess and demonstrate effective communication skills
6. Demonstrate ability to collaborate and facilitate school improvement teams
7. Knowledge of federal and state special education law, regulations, and policy, and evidence-based practices for behavior
8. Knowledge of the latest research regarding the implementation of evidence based practices in behavioral science and how behavior intersects within a multi-tiered system of support
9. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation)
