Key Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the review, consolidation and preparation of monthly excise duty liability, circa £400m pm
- Ensuring the accurate accounting of customs and excise duty liabilities in the general ledger in accordance with business timetable
- Forecasting of excise duty gains and losses from temperature fluctuations and vapour recovery at UK terminals – reporting to the Group Financial Controller on variances to budget
- Ensuring that Greenergy’s core UK terminal activity operates within HMRC guidelines and that all stock terminals have appropriate licenses to cover operational activity
- Managing the excise duty deferment limits with UK terminals to ensure no interruption to fuel supply
- Ensuring any operational changes to the business are understood from a tax perspective, communicated and appropriate actions taken to ensure accurate reporting and compliance
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with all excise duty stakeholders across the business
- Engaging with HMRC and speaking with authority on customs and excise matters with our local agents

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous experience in a similar role in accounting/tax
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business or a related field
- Proficiency in MS Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with various stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Part-qualified accountant, currently working towards CIMA/ACCA/ACA
