THIS ROLE IS ONSITE 5 DAYS A WEEK. 

Location: Portland, Oregon 

Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer 

Position Summary:  

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial health and operational efficiency of our e-commerce photo studio. This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. The Senior Accountant partners closely with cross-functional teams—including Project Management, Operations and HR—to manage budgets, analyze costs, and provide financial insights that support business decisions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, creative environment where adaptability and problem-solving are essential. 
  
Key Responsibilities:  

  • General accounting tasks including account reconciliations, journal entries, and review of billing / payable data.   
  • Manage Staff accountant or equivalent.   
  • Must have experience with financial modeling experience and project accounting experience  
  • Analysis and review of company expenditures, confirming proper allocation of expenses to the various projects, departments, and reporting to the various departments as necessary.   
  • Analysis of project actuals and estimates, recording details into databases, meeting with project managers to understand variances.   
  • Month-end close responsibilities, including Profit & Loss analysis, accrued expenses, accounts payable and various other balance sheet reconciliations.   
  • Reviewing invoices and revenue to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.  
  • Review budgets to actuals and making notes of variances.   
  • Seeking ways to improve accounting processes and procedures both nationally and internationally.  
  • Reviewing and responding daily to the accounting mail inbox.   
  • Assisting with and handling special projects as needed.  

  

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:   

  • 3 – 4 years or more experience as a Senior Staff Accountant.    
  • CPA/CPA eligible.   
  • Experience assisting with annual external audit.   
  • Experience with accounting in multiple currencies.  
  • Experience with local and state tax filings.   
  • Experience with the accounting system, (Intacct and Gravity)   
  • Experience with advanced accounting systems (Intacct, Microsoft, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, etc.).   
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.   
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.   
  • Self-starter, quick learner, and ability to multi-task on a regular basis.   
  • Experience in a role that requires substantial multi-tasking and prioritization skills in a deadline driven environment.  
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.   
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
