About our Company
Lemonade Finance (YC S21) is building the neobank for African diaspora in North America & Europe. We provide our users with a multi-currency account that allows them to hold, send, and receive money from Africa in any currency for their business and personal banking needs.
There are over 10 million Africans living in North America & Europe who go through hoops and have to pay exorbitant fees to send money to their loved ones. We are constantly fighting for everyday Africans to be able to move their money freely around the world at no cost and with the best exchange rate they can find out there.
We launched the first version of the app at the beginning of October 2020 with just the ability to send money. Now, we enable our users to send and receive as well as pay bills for services across the ocean for loved ones. We have also grown to a team of more than 25 people working remotely and living in different continents around the world.
The Role
We are hiring a Business Lead to explore, validate, and scale new business lines. This role is both commercial and strategic. You will own the P&L and business case, while working closely with Product who will focus on product metrics and customer experience for 0-1 new launches. Think of it as a mini-GM role where you set the direction, make the numbers work, and bring cross-functional teams together to get to market.
What You'll Do
- Take ownership of the commercial success of new business lines such as eSIM, Savings, Insurance and others
- Lead market assessment including sizing, competitor benchmarking, customer demand, and unit economics
- Build and own the business case including pricing, P&L, and go-to-market strategy
- Partner with Product, Design and Engineering who will own delivery, product metrics, and customer experience
- Negotiate with external vendors and manage integrations, ongoing vendor management tbc
- Define KPIs and track commercial performance after launch
- Use data directly to validate assumptions and measure business outcomes
- As throughput increases, potential to hire and manage a small commercial team
What We Are Looking For
- Strong operator with 6 to 8+ years of experience in fintech or adjacent industries
- Proven ability to build and launch new products or businesses from scratch
- Comfortable owning P&L, building models, and driving financial outcomes
- Hands-on with data and analytics and able to self-serve to inform decisions
- Skilled at competitor analysis, benchmarking, and market research
- Able to collaborate effectively with Product, Operations, Compliance, and Finance
- Entrepreneurial mindset with bias for action, resilience, and comfort with ambiguity
